My Higher Ed policy mandates that 50% of federal grants go to vocational tracks and that every technical school partners with industry for paid apprenticeships. We need to stop the cycle of ‘no job without experience, no experience without a job.’
I want to hear from people in the trades (welding, HVAC, medical coding, etc.): If you could have started a certified, paid apprenticeship in high school or community college, how would that have changed your career trajectory? Is a 4-year degree still the ‘gold standard,’ or is it time we audited the ROI of the American degree?
