Reproductive Rights & Family Health

What I Believe

Mothers and children deserve protection and access to care without political interference.

The Problem: Inconsistent Policy and Unstable Health Outcomes

Confusing and inconsistent policies across states leave families at risk, create disparities in maternal health, and result in unstable health outcomes for mothers and infants. The lack of clear, consistent federal standards and dedicated resources for maternal support forces many families into poverty and uncertainty.

What I'll Do - The Maternal and Child Protection Act - MCPA

  • Guaranteed Comprehensive Maternal Healthcare: Mandate federal standards ensuring every woman has access to comprehensive, high-quality prenatal, delivery, and postpartum (up to one year) healthcare, regardless of income or state of residence. This includes coverage for mental health and nutritional counseling.
  • Protection of Life Mandate: Establish a clear federal standard that mandates protection for the life of the child, allowing exceptions only when necessary to save the life of the mother in a certified medical emergency.
  • Expanded Family Support and Adoption Resources: Dramatically increase federal funding and incentives for community-based support systems, including non-profit, faith-based, and secular organizations that provide adoption services, foster care support, and resources for struggling parents (e.g., affordable childcare, nutritional assistance).
  • Clear Health Outcome Standards: Establish clear, consistent federal benchmarks and reporting standards for maternal mortality, infant mortality, and birth defect screenings. Utilize this data to target federal grants and resources to states and communities failing to meet safe, compassionate health outcomes for mothers and children.

Why It Matters

Policy confusion and inconsistent standards put mothers and children at risk. By guaranteeing high-quality maternal healthcare and creating robust, consistent support systems nationwide, we ensure that every pregnancy, birth, and early childhood is protected and provided for, regardless of politics or zip code.
