Energy & Climate
What I Believe
Energy independence and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
The Problem: Dependence, Underinvestment, and Instability
We rely too much on foreign energy and underinvest in clean innovation, costing American jobs and economic stability. This failure of strategic planning leaves consumers vulnerable to global price shocks while necessary environmental protection takes a backseat to short-term political maneuvering.
What I'll Do - The American Energy Independence and Clean Grid Act - AEICGA
- Expand All Domestic Energy Sources: Prioritize and accelerate the expansion of domestic production for all reliable, secure energy sources—including oil, natural gas, nuclear power, and renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal). This “all-of-the-above” approach ensures energy security, price stability, and a diverse power portfolio.
- Protect Quality and Promote Clean-Tech Innovation: Protect air and water quality through aggressively enforced regulatory standards while promoting targeted federal investment in next-generation clean-tech research, manufacturing, and development (e.g., advanced battery storage, carbon capture, small modular nuclear reactors).
- Invest in American Manufacturing and Long-Term Jobs: Establish incentives to prioritize domestic sourcing and investment in American manufacturing capabilities for all energy components (from drilling equipment to solar panels and grid hardware). This mandate will create high-wage, long-term jobs and reduce supply chain reliance on foreign nations.
- Modernize the Power Grid: Launch a federal-level initiative to modernize the national power grid, ensuring it is resilient against physical and cyberattacks, capable of safely integrating decentralized renewable energy sources, and efficient enough to minimize transmission loss.
Why It Matters
Energy security is national security. By investing in an “all-of-the-above” approach—expanding nuclear, oil, gas, and renewables—we stabilize global prices, end reliance on foreign adversaries, and create millions of high-wage American manufacturing jobs dedicated to building the clean, resilient power grid of the future.
